TRAFFIC ADVISORY

From the Cebu City government, Talisay City government, Dept. of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Cebu City Traffic Operations Management (CITOM), and the Talisay Operation Development Authority (TODA).

To help ease the traffic during the CEBU MARATHON, the following traffic plan will be implemented.

DATE: JANUARY 13 (SUNDAY)

1. CLOSURE of the Tunnel (SRP) from 1 to 10 A.M.
2. CLOSURE of the road from the tunnel to the Mambaling junction of the SRP from 1 to 10 A.M.
3. All Cebu City motorists proceeding to Talisay are advised to proceed to Mambaling and enter the SRP in the Mambaling junction.
4. All Talisay City motorists (and those coming from the South) proceeding to Cebu City may enter the SRP (from Talisay) but must turn left upon reaching the Mambaling junction.
5. The joint personnel and enforces of CITOM and TODA will be at the key intersections to guide the motorists.
6. With the rest of the Cebu Marathon route within Cebu City (Osmena Blvd., Escario St., Gorordo Ave., etc.), all motorists will have access to all roads; only have of the roads will be closed for the marathon participants.
Thank you for bearing with us during the 2013 Cebu Marathon!

The Cebu Marathon is considered by many running experts as one of the Philippines’ best marathons. Noted running journalist and blogger Jaymie Pizarro (The Bull Runner) gave the Cebu Marathon a perfect “5 stars” after joining in 2010.

The inaugural Cebu Marathon 42K race, the “01-10-10” event, was organized last January 10, 2010. Early this year, the Cebu Marathon was held in Jan. 8, 2012.

This coming 2013, the Cebu Marathon will be held on January 13 (Sunday). The start and finish line is at the Cebu I.T. Park (formerly Asiatown I.T. Park) in Lahug, Cebu City.

What makes the Cebu Marathon unique from many races around the world is The Sinulog, one of Asia’s biggest and grandest of festivals. The Cebu Marathon is held exactly seven days prior to the Sinulog – thus the festive, colorful and loud mardi-gras-type of marathon.

Three categories are offered to all runners: the 42K, the 21K, and the 5K.
